Kalonji Hair Oil

My sister in law shared this hair oil recipe with me. When I heard about it, I started searching the net for more information on this oil and I came across this video, which I found useful and adapted this oil following the video. This can be used for extreme hair fall.

Kalonji seeds are also called as Nigella seeds or Black cumin seeds or Karunjeeragam (in tamil). This is very rich in vitamins. You can get this is any grocery store.

This oil is also touted to reverse premature greying and baldness. I have been using it for the past few days. Apply this oil on the scalp and leave it to soak for 30 minutes atleast.

Fenugreek seeds are also called as methi seeds or vendhyam which is also good for hair growth.

Ingredients
  • Kalonji - 2 tbsp
  • Fenugreek seeds - 2 tbsp
  • Coconut oil - 200 ml
  • Castor oil - 50 ml
  • Curry leaves - handful
Method
1. Take 2 tbsp of kalonji in a clean mixer jar and blend to a powder. Transfer to a sauce pan.

2. Take 2 tbsp of fenugreek seeds in the same mixer and blend to a powder. Transfer this powder also to the sauce pan.

3. Now add the coconut oil and castor oil. Mix well. Add the curry leaves.

4. Put the sauce pan on medium to low flame. And cook for about 5-8 minutes.

5. Allow the mixture to cool completely. Leave it overnight for the oil to get infused with the ingredients added.

6. Transfer the oil to the glass bottle and keep in sun for 1 day.
7. You can strain the oil and use or use it as such.

Notes
1. You can add some neem leaves and hibiscus flowers also.
2. You can also blend the curry leaves, hibiscus and neem leaves and heat it along with the oil.
3. You can strain the mixture and store only the oil or let all the ingredients soak in the oil. I let the ingredients soak in the oil for 2 weeks and then strain the mixture and store the oil alone.

Until next time,
