Potato Chips | Homemade Potato Chips

My mum used to make lots of chips for us and growing up, we used to love these chips she made. She always made us yam chips, vazhakkai chips and these potato chips and now I make these chips for my kids and they enjoy it so much! These are easy to make and kids will love to have this for snacks.

Homemade Yam Chips | Senai Kizhangu Chips

I remember when I was a kid, my mum used to make lots of chips at home. She used to make a lot of potato chips, vazhakkai chips and these yam chips. My brother and me, simply loved it and finished it off in no time. Last week, we made these chips again for my kids and I ended up eating a lot more than the little ones!

Yam Chips

Yam or senai kizhangu is mostly avoided since it induces itching while cutting the veggie. But if you apply some oil or wear gloves, you can avoid this issue. Also whenever we make yam masala, or any other yam recipe, we always cook the yam separately in some water and then discard the water. (You can check the yam masala recipe for details on this).

But when we make these yam chips, we don't cook ahead and discard the water. If it's cooked well in oil, then it does not create any issues. If you want to play it safe, then you can cook ahead and discard the water and then make these chips.

Vazhakkai Chips Recipe / Raw Banana Chips Recipe

As a child I remember eating these chips and yam chips and potato chips made by my mom, I remember taking them to school in my lunch box and even to college and I always remember these chips will always disappear first from my box, everybody loved it! Even at home when my mum made it, my brother and me, would never wait to have it with rice, it always got over instantly.

Vazhakkai Chips

These chips are so crispy just like the store bought ones. These can be had as tea time snacks. Kids would simply love munching on this. I had my mum do the scraping while I took pictures. There's no way, I could scrape and click pictures and she was not comfortable clicking pictures.

This was a huge hit with my kids. It was a treat to even see my one year old nibbling on these chips. I tell you, no one can eat just one!!!
