I make almost all my masalas at home and garam masala was one of the few that I used to buy from the store. So for a very long time I was looking at many combinations to arrive at the right flavor. Finally I have arrived at this combination. This has worked for me, I like the flavor and taste of this masala. It is not over powering, it is subtle yet flavorful. Adding a little to my curries, takes it to a whole new level.

Paneer Fried Rice

Fried rice is a very common Indo Chinese dish in our house. I make different varieties of fried rice since my kids like to take this for lunch. And since I always like some variety in the lunches I pack for them, I made a paneer fried rice one day and my family loved it!

Everybody loves paneer and adding it always makes the dish healthy and tasty. The important thing here is to make sure the paneer does not turn rubbery and also make sure the paneer is tasty. You can shallow fry the paneer before adding in but make sure you don't overcook the paneer.

Siru Keerai Poriyal

Keerai is a staple in South Indian homes. Including any variety of keerai at least 3 days a week is very good for health. Siru Keerai is rich in iron, vitamins and fibre. 
You can make a masiyal or a poriyal with siru keerai. I usually make a masiyal with siru keerai or arai keerai but this time I decided to make a poriyal.
I make the poriyal slightly different and this makes it really tasty. Instead of using just grated coconut, I add some garlic and green chillies and then add it in which gives the keerai a unique taste.

Sathumaavu Ladoo

Sathumaavu is a health mix powder made with many healthy nuts, grains, millets. This is made especially for young children to help them meet the nutritional requirements. My kids don't like to eat porridge made from this sathumaavu. It was easier to feed them the porridge when they were little but now, they are not so interested in the porridge. So I started making other dishes with the sathumaavu for them, like the sathumavu dosa, uthapam. This is another recipe that I made with the powder. This is an easy to make, healthy snack for both the kids and adults.

This is the most common eggs that I make at home, so much so, that I've bought a special small pan just to make this egg!! All of us love to have this for breakfast, it is easy to make and if made correctly, tastes really good. 
Cooking the eggs to the correct consistency is important. Over cooking will make it rubbery.

Burnt Garlic Fried Rice

Burnt garlic fried rice is similar to the fried rice that is usually made except we add some extra garlic to it and the garlic is slightly burnt to give a unique flavor to the rice. 

You can add the garlic at the beginning or you can saute the garlic separately and add it at the end. I make it exactly the same way I make the usual fried rice except I allow the garlic to burn a little bit.

Homemade Nutella | Pea Nutella | Chocolate Peanut Spread

I love chocolate and I like to spread chocolate to a slice of bread, it's absolutely one of my favorites! I used to buy nutella before and enjoy it but after reading so many articles on how bad nutella is, I don't buy as much as I used to. 
This homemade 'nutella' is just as good as the store bought one, except it doesn't have a lot of oil and sugar added to it!!

If you get hazelnuts then you can use them instead of the peanuts. I don't get hazelnuts easily and it's quite expensive too so I decided to make with peanuts. If you like peanuts then you will love this chocolate spread.

There are plenty of recipes in the internet but this is the simplest and easiest recipe for pea-nutella and I love it. If you want the spread to be more smooth, you can simply adjust the ingredients.

Mudakathan Keerai Muttai Dosai

Mudakathan keerai muttai dosai is just like the normal muttai dosai. It is healthy and tastes no different than the normal dosai, if not much better, except for the color. I make mudakathan keerai dosai atleast once a week since I have this keerai growing wildly in my little kitchen garden.

I have already posted a Mudakathan Keerai Dosai recipe. This keerai is very healthy just like all the other keerai/greens variety. Mudakathan keerai is called as Balloon Vine Leaves in English. It has anti inflammatory properties and it's rich in anti oxidants too. You can make a stir fry with this keerai too but I find this the easiest way to make my kids eat the keerai. Adding an egg to it makes it even more healthy and makes it a wonderful option for breakfast.
