Karuveppilai Thuvaiyal

I buy fresh vegetables everyday and my vegetable vendor, near my house, always gives me tons of free curry leaves every time I buy vegetables and I'm always at a loss trying to find ways to use it all up, without it getting spoilt. One such day I decided to make this tasty and healthy thuvaiyal. I have already shared coriander thuvaiyal and pudina thuvaiyal. These thuvaiyals are healthy and so versatile. You can have it with rice or idli, dosa. It is very easy to make and when kept refrigerated, it stays good for long.

Sambar Sadam

Sambar sadam is an easy and simple lunch recipe that I make during lazy days. The steps involved in making this sambar sadam is straightforward and easy and yet it tastes awesome! I adapted this recipe from here. A simple side dish makes this a filling meal! I don't pack this for lunch boxes however I do make a sambar sadam with millets which I pack for lunch boxes.

Prawn Biryani

We usually don't make prawn biryani at home simply because there are so many other tasty prawn dishes that we can make. But since these dishes are spicy, my kids always refuse to eat it. That is why I stated making this prawn biryani so that my kids can eat some prawns without fussing. This is an easy and tasty biryani and the flavor of the prawns lifts the biryani up a notch!
There are many ways to make a biryani and this is the simple and easy method using pressure cooker. Some people like to partially cook the prawns first before adding to the biryani but I like it this way and it works well.

Jeera Pulao

Jeera pulao is one of the easiest, flavorful rice dishes to make. We love pulao in my family and I make a lot of different variety of pulao but when I don't have anything to add to the pulao, I simply make this tasty pulao! It works well with a nice side dish. I always add coconut milk to all my pulao, although not needed, the coconut milk makes the pulao more yum.

Onion Tomato Uthapam

Onion tomato uthapam is one of the easiest breakfast that South Indians make. It is simple, easy, tasty and colorful enough to even attract kids. I make this uthapam when my idli dosa batter is almost at the end, about 4 days old. Of course you can also make this uthapam with fresh idli batter but if you're looking for ways to finish off left over idli, dosa batter, this works really well! This breakfast is greatly enjoyed!
You can serve this, just as you would serve dosa, with chutneys or sambar.

Kathrikai Kuzhambu | Brinjal Kuzhambu

I am not a huge fan of brinjals, I can eat them once in a while but my husband loves it and my mum loves it so somehow this veggie makes an appearance quite often in our house. Every family makes a kuzhambu with their own variations, this is how I make it on our home and we love it!
This kuzhambu is a rich tangy curry and tastes really good with hot steamed rice, some simple poriyal and some appalam!

Chocolate Custard Ice Cream

I had no idea of making this ice cream but when I make the Brooklyn Blackout Cake, I had about 1 cup of chocolate custard left over. So I decided to use it while making chocolate ice cream. And it turned out to be an awesome idea!
This custard turned a simple chocolate ice cream into an exotic ice cream! Everybody loved this ice cream so much that now a days, whenever I make chocolate ice cream, I make the custard exclusively to add to it!
