I wanted to post some baby food recipes that I have used for my kids. These are recipes that have worked well with both my kids.
When you start weaning a baby at 6 months, it is best to start off with rice porridge/cereals. Slowly you can start including other foods too. This recipe can be started at 7 months.
This is homemade idli with banana. This makes a wholesome breakfast with idli and a fruit.
MASHED IDLI WITH BANANA
Preparation time 5 mins | Serves 1
Ingredients
Method
1. Add pieces of idli to a mixer, chop the bananas and add it to the idli.
2. Add about 1/4 cup of milk and blend to a smooth paste.
3. Transfer to a bowl and add more milk as required and make it into a smooth paste that the baby can eat.
4. Adjust milk as required.
Notes
1. You can start with half idli and half banana first and then increase the amount slowly.
2. No need to add any sugar, the banana is sweet enough. It is generally not advisable to add sugar or salt to a baby's food till 1 year. But if your child refuses to eat, you can add a tsp sugar or condensed milk.
3. As the child grows, you can stop blending in a mixer and start mashing with your hand.
Until next time,
