Mutta Bonda

Mutta Bonda is a favorite tea time snack among South Indians. It is easy and simple to make, if you already have boiled eggs at hand. Few months back we visited my friend Poongodi, where she quickly made some yummy muttai bonda. Our family enjoyed the muttai bonda and we enjoyed the time spent with them! After that day my husband kept saying we must make these egg bondas at home and finally we ended up making it at home and it tasted great! My husband helped me make these bondas and we enjoyed our evening snacks with kids!

Now a days, we get ready made bhajji/bonda mix in the store but making this egg bonda from scratch at home is extremely simple and will not require you to buy the mix from the store.

Vegetable Cutlet

Vegetable Cutlets are one of the most favorite snacks of all time! If ever we go out for snacks then this cutlet is always a must have! It is easy and simple to make and kids will always love it.
One of the main things to note while making a cutlet is the binding agent. If you don't add proper and sufficient binding agent then you cutlet will fall apart when you fry them.
Also after adding the masala to the cooked vegetables, you can choose to cook it all again in a tawa to remove the raw smell of the masala.
So lets see how to make a tasty cutlet!

Carrot Pulao

Whenever I want to include carrot in my kids lunch box, I always make the quick carrot rice. However this carrot pulao is slightly different from that carrot rice recipe. This pulao is more flavorful and mild and rich! This is the kind of pulao that you can serve for your guests. Made with fragrant basmati rice, coconut milk and flavored with whole spices, this pulao tastes too good!

Fruit Cake Ice Cream

This past Christmas did not go well for my family. My mother in law passed away and we did not celebrate Christmas and the fruit cake that I had made a week earlier was left in the fridge. I gave away a lot of cake and with the left over I made this ice cream.

Fruit Cake Ice Cream

This ice cream is so delicious and rich with all the nuts and dried fruits. We go to an ice cream parlour near our house where they mix our favourite ice cream with chocolate cake and we all love having that ice cream, this fruit cake ice cream tasted similar to that except this was more tasty and lip smacking with all the fruits and nuts added to it!

Easy Carrot Halwa in Microwave

Carrot halwa and beetroot halwa is one of my most favorite Indian sweet dishes! I love to have carrot halwa! This is an easy way of making carrot halwa, although this is not the authentic, traditional way of making the halwa, this halwa still tastes very good and it satiates an instant craving!

Karuvepillai Chutney | Curry Leaves Chutney

The vegetable vendor near my house always gives me a lot of curry leaves for free and most of the time I am lost as to what to cook with it! Sometimes I make this chutney or this thogayal and I regularly use it for making curry leaves hair oil too!

This chutney tastes great, it doesn't taste bitter, it's just the right amount of curry leaves to make it a tasty chutney and a healthy side dish for idlis or dosa!

Sathumaavu Paniyaram | Paniyaram Recipes

I usually make a large batch of sathumaavu and store it for a few months as I find it tedious to make it often. So when I make a large batch, I tend to add it in any of the dishes I make to make it a bit more healthy than what it already is. Similar to this paniyaram, I have made sathumaavu dosa, sathumaavu uthapam, sathumaavu ladoo and even sathumaavu cutlets.

Sathumaavu Paniyaram

So a humble paniyaram became a sathumaavu paniyaram and no one in my family could even tell that it had sathumaavu in it. The trick is to not add too much of sathumaavu, if you add too much then it alters the taste drastically. Add just enough and the taste and texture remains the same.

Aloo Tikki | Potato Cutlets

Aloo tikki or potato cutlets are tasty and delicious snacks that can be made for the evening. These cutlets are always a favorite among kids. They are made by adding a lot of mixed spices to cooked potatoes along with a binding agent. These cutlets can be deep fried or shallow fried.
Growing up, my mom used to make lots of cutlets and my brother and me always enjoyed eating it. The most favorite of our cutlets was the mutton cutlets and till today nothing beats my mom's tasty mutton cutlets!

Homemade Khoya Recipe

A lot of Indian sweets recipes calls for khova/khoya and if you can find it in a store near you, it makes the job easy but if you can't get it then this recipe will come in handy. Making khoya in the traditional method takes a lot of time so this is a easy simple instant method which works very well.
I have already posted another method to make instant khoya in microwave, I made this khoya to make this kulfi recipe and I'm sharing it here. It's pretty much the same recipe but the method of making it is different, this is made on stove top whereas the previous recipe is made in microwave.

Kulfi Recipe

I love kulfi! More than ice creams, I enjoy making and eating these kulfis. Kulfi is an Indian ice cream made with full fat milk and it is much more creamier and denser than ice creams. Making the traditional kulfi is a long drawn process of cooking and stirring the milk for very long time. There are many versions of instant kulfi recipes on the net but nothing beats a kulfi made the traditional way.

Kulfi

Kulfi's are mostly set in matkas or sticks and there are many different flavors of kulfi. This recipe that I have shared is the basic kulfi recipe and can be modified as your preference. I have made many kulfi recipes but this is my most favorite recipe ever! Whenever I make this kulfi, I always set it in matkas than setting in sticks as it takes more than 2 days for this kulfi to set in sticks whereas in matkas, it's nice and creamy and perfect to enjoy!

I think the reason it takes 48 hours for this kulfi to set is the amount of khova used. You can try reducing the khova but I simply love the flavor and texture of the kulfi with all that yummy khova in it!!

You can call this a pista kulfi too because of the amount of pistachios I have used. You can add 2 drops of green color to make it a Pista Kulfi.

Rajma Biryani

Rajma also called as Red Kidney Beans is rich in protein and fiber and is usually known as the poor man's meat. Although the protein content in the kidney beans is lower than animal protein, the protein content found in kidney beans is considered to be excellent for vegetarians.
You can make many dishes out of rajma. I love to make masala with it which goes very well with roti or even rice. This time I made a biryani with the rajma for my kids lunch box. I make biryani every week with either rajma or double beans or lima beans or chick peas or black eyes peas. All of these are rich in protein.
