How to make Ven Pongal

Ven Pongal is one of the traditional South Indian dishes and one of my favorite! We always have pongal with sambar and not with chutney. Although many families are used to eating with chutney, we always make pongal and mulangi sambar. It tastes absolutely heavenly! It is also very easy to make. And since kids love to eat this too, it is one of the regular dishes in our home.
Traditionally pongal is made using ghee - lots of ghee! The more ghee you add the better it tastes. But in our house we make it only with oil. You can add ghee if you don't have any restrictions. If the pongal looks a bit runny when you open the cooker, not to worry. It will come down to a soft consistency.
I have also started to make pongal with millets and we love it! Check out the kuthiraivali pongal and thinai pongal . Also check out the brown rice pongal and oats pongal.

Radish Sambar Recipe

Sambar is one of the pillars of south Indian cuisines. There are different ways to make sambar and here I have given one of the basic methods with a slight difference. This method was taught to me during my early days of marriage by my dear friend Poongodi and this is the way I make sambar now and it is extremely delicious and flavorful and not to mention, very easy and quick. When you add everything in the pressure cooker while cooking the dal, the flavor intensifies resulting in a lip smacking sambar.
And Radish Sambar is my absolute most favorite! Especially Ven Pongal with this sambar!!

Best Fudgy Cocoa Brownies

Brownies are my favourite!! I have made many and loved them all but I always love a fudgy brownie more than the others and whenever you search for a fudge brownie recipe, it always includes melting chocolate. Now, I don't mind melting the chocolate just because I love to eat a brownie but it's an added step and adding just cocoa powder seems easy and always available in my kitchen.

Fudgy Cocoa Brownies

So when I came across this recipe from Alice Medrich which uses only cocoa powder and still calls it a fudge brownie, I simply had to try for myself to see how it tasted and whether it lived up to the reviews I read online. Well, it tasted awesome!
