Homemade Granola Bars

These are my most favorite bars, I've made a lot of bars but these are my 'go to' bars! Whenever I go on a diet trying to loose weight, these bars are my companion. They make a perfect snack. These bars are totally healthy and every week I make a batch and store it until my diet plan is over!

Ingredients
  • Oats - 2 cups
  • Chopped dates - 4 tbsp
  • Chopped walnuts - 4 tbsp
  • Chopped figs - 4 tbsp
  • Flax seed powder - 2 tbsp
  • Raisins - 4 tbsp
  • Chopped almonds - 4 tbsp
  • Roasted peanuts - 2 tbsp
  • Honey / Dates syrup - 4 tbsp (or to taste)
  • Oil - to bind

Method
Pre heat the oven to 180 degress C. Line and grease an 8" square pan.
1. Dry roast the oats in a pan for 3 minutes.
2. Once it cools down, add the dates, walnuts, figs, flax seed powder, raisins, almonds, peanuts.

3. Add the honey and mix well. I added only 4 tbsp honey, if you need more, feel free to add.
4. Add oil little by little to bring it all together. You won't need much, as the honey itself will act as a binder.

5. Press this mixture well into an 8 inch square pan. Press firmly using hand or the back of a flat vessel.
6. Bake in a pre heated oven for 17-20 minutes until it turns golden brown.
7. Remove and let it cool and cut into squares or bars.

Notes
1. The ingredients added depends on it's availability. These are some of the things I normally add. You can add what you have at hand.
2. If you're not on a strict diet, then you can add 1 tbsp powdered sugar instead of honey.
3. Flax seed powder is optional, I like to add it for it's health benefits.
4. Here is another granola bar recipe that is not baked. A no bake healthy granola bar recipe. It doesn't use any sweetener too.

Until next time,
