Ridge Gourd Raita | Peerkangai Thayir Pachadi | பீர்க்கங்காய் தயிர் பச்சடி

பீர்க்கங்காய் தயிர் பச்சடி | Ridge Gourd Raita | Peerkangai Thayir Pachadi - In this post, we will see how to make a tasty peerkangai thayir pachadi, also known as Ridge Gourd Raita.


Ingredients
  • Peerkangai - 1 medium
  • Thick curd - 1.5 cups
  • Milk - 2 tbsp
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • Coconut pieces - 4
  • Green chilli - 1
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece
  • Garlic - 2
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp, chopped

Method
1. Wash and peel the ridge gourd and chop into small pieces.
2. In a small saucepan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, dal, curry leaves.
3. Add the ridge gourd and salt and cook for 5 mins.
4. In the meantime, add 4 pieces of coconut, green chilli, ginger, garlic and cumin. Add little curd and water and grind to a paste.
5. Once the ridge gourd cooks well, switch off the flame and let it cool down completely.
6. Then take the curd in a bowl and whisk well. Add little milk and mix.
7. Now add the ground paste and mix well. Then add the cooked ridge gourd and mix in with the curd.
8. Finally add some chopped coriander leaves.

Ridge gourd raita is ready

Notes
1. You can make this raita without adding the coconut paste too, but if you add it then it tastes even better.
