Method
1. I have used the red variety of ponnanganni keerai. Clean and wash the keerai.
2. Wash and soak the moong dal for 30 mins and then put it in a pressure cooker. Add enough water.
3. Add chopped tomatoes and then add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, hing and salt. Mix well. Finally add garlic and ghee and mix in.
4. Close the cooker and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
5. In the meantime, chop the keerai into smaller pieces.
6. Once the pressure settles, open the cooker and mash the dal well.
7. Now add the chopped keerai leaves and cook for 5-7 mins.
8. As the keerai is cooking, in a small saucepan, heat oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, red chillies, curry leaves and urad dal.
9. Then add the chopped onion and saute till it's golden brown.
10. Add the onion to the cooked keerai and dal and mix well.
11. Cook for 2 mins and then add ghee and switch off.

Notes
1. You can add a little less moong dal too but if you add what I have mentioned it makes this dish too tasty.
