Eggless Brownies

I am finally satisfied with my eggless brownies! I have tried many eggless brownie recipes but none has been upto my satisfaction. I like only fudgy brownies, I don't like cake like brownies. Brownies have to be like brownies, intensely chocolaty and fudgy, what's the point in having cake like brownies! I like brownies like this Triple Chocolate Fudge Brownies and these fudgy cocoa brownies. I have been looking for an eggless brownie that will be this good, just like brownies are supposed to be!

Since I was not able to find a recipe that got the approval of my taste buds, I decided to modify a brownie with eggs into an eggless brownie recipe and it worked! I used flax seeds powder and the brownie came out beautifully! So rich and so divine. It was an absolute pleasure to eat these little brownies!

So if your like me, waiting for the perfect eggless brownies, then your search ends here!

Recipe adapted from - Something Swanky

  • Butter - 1/2 cup (113 gms)
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • All purpose flour / maida - 1/2 cup
  • Cocoa - 1/2 cup
  • Baking soda - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - 1/4 tsp
  • Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
  • Flax seeds powder - 2 tbsp
  • Warm water - 6 tbsp (to mix the flax seeds)
  • Chocolate chips or chopped chocolate - 2 cups

1. Line and grease an 8'' square pan. Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees C.
2. Mix 2 tbsp of flax seed powder in 6 tbsp of warm water and set aside.

3. Beat the butter and sugar and vanilla extract.
4. Add the mixed flax seed powder and blend again.
5. Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Fold everything together.

6. Add the chocolate chunks or chocolate chips. Fold gently.
7. Once the batter is done, pour into the prepared pan and bake at 180 degrees C for 25 minutes.

8. Check with a tooth pick or skewer from 25 minutes. The tooth pick will come out with a few crumbs sticking to it.
9. Remove and let it cool, then cut into squares.

1. If you feel 2 cups of chocolate is a bit much, then add just 1 cup of chocolate.
2. I used 1 cup of granulated sugar but powdered it before using since the sugar that I get has large crystals that does  not dissolve easily.
3. If you prefer eggs, use 2 eggs instead of flax seeds powder.
4. I used a 9 inch pan hence got thin pieces. If you prefer slightly thicker pieces, then use an 8 inch square pan.
5. Instead of flax seed powder, you can use half a cup of thick curd to replace the eggs.

Until next time,
