One of my most favorite ways to eat lady's finger is this raita! It's very tasty and something different from the normal vendakkai poriyal or vendakkai kuzhambu that we are so used to having. I love including different kinds of raita is my diet and this is one of it!
VENDAKKAI PACHADI
Preparation time 5 mins | Cooking time 15 mins | Serves 1 or 2
Ingredients
Method
1. Cut the lady's finger in the middle and further cut them into two as shown in the picture.
2. In a non stick pan, heat oil. Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal and curry leaves.
3. When the mustard and cumin seeds splutter, add the chopped onions, green chillies and some salt. Saute until the onions turn translucent.
4. Add the cut lady's finger and mix with the onions. Saute well for about 8-10 minutes until the lady's finger gets cooked thoroughly and becomes non sticky.
5. Do not add water, keep the flame at medium, cover the pan and cook stirring often.
6. When the lady's finger becomes non sticky, add the turmeric powder and mix well. Cook again for a couple of minutes and switch off.
7. After it cools down, transfer the lady's finger to a bowl. Now add the beaten curd and milk.
8. Add the chopped coriander leaves, check for salt and mix well.
Notes
1. You can add red chilli powder too along with the turmeric powder.
2. Adjust the curd and milk proportion to your taste.
3. You can skip the milk and add full thick curd too.

- Onion - 2
- Green chilli - 2
- Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
- Curd - 3/4 cup
- Milk - 1/4 cup
- Salt - to taste
- Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp, chopped
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Urad dal - 1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves - few
Method
