Finger Millet Porridge - In this video we will see how to make a tasty finger millet / nachini porridge for adults. This is a delicious breakfast recipe that you can have, finger millet is rich in calcium and having this for breakfast will keep you full and healthy!
Ingredients
- Finger millet flour - 4 tbsp
- Water - 1/4 cup
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
- Urad dal - 1/8 tsp
- Green chillies - 1, chopped fine
- Curry leaves - few
- Water - 1 cup
- Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp
- Salt - 1/2 tsp

Method
1. Take the finger millet flour and add about a 1/4 cup water to it and mix it to a smooth paste.
2. Take a small saucepan and place it on a stove, add the oil and let it heat up.
3. Then add the mustard seeds, urad dal, green chillies and curry leaves. Wait for a few seconds for this to splutter.
4. Add 1 cup of water slowly along the sides of the pan. Be careful, water will splash and splutter, keep the flame at low.
5. To the water, add the cumin powder and salt. Mix it all together and wait for the water to boil.
6. When the water starts boiling, slowly add the finger millet that we prepared. Add slowly and keep mixing as you add so that no lumps are formed.
7. Keep stirring and cooking this mixture till it thickens. It will take about 2-3 minutes.
8. Once it thickens remove from flame and finger millet porridge is ready.
Notes
1. You can have this as it is or enjoy with curd, papad or bhujia.
