Karuppu Ulundu Ladoo | Black Urad Dal Ladoo without Sugar or Jaggery - In this video, we will see how to make a healthy and tasty black urad dal ladoo without adding sugar or jaggery. Not only is this ladoo protein rich, it is also rich in iron and fibre making it a healthy snack for children especially pre-pubescent girls.


Ingredients
  • Dates - 400 gms
  • Black grapes - 250 gms
  • Figs - 150 gms (chopped)
  • Walnuts - 1 cup (roughly chopped)
  • Black urad dal - 1 cup

Method
1. Take 1 cup of black urad dal in a dry mixie jar and blend till it's powdery.
2. Transfer the powdered black urad dal in a saucepan for 5-8 mins in medium flame.
3. Add the black grapes and figs in a food processor and blend for 1 mins.
4. Then add the chopped nuts and blend again.
5. Now add the roasted black urad dal powder and blend again.
6. Next add the dates. Make sure the dates are the soft variety dates. Add the dates little by little through the pusher and keep running the machine, everything will come together to make a smooth ladoo.
7. If the processor is getting stuck, stop the blender, scrape the sides and then run it again. Slowly increase the speed of the processor.
8. Transfer the mixture onto a plate, grease your hands and roll into small ladoos.

Storage -I keep it in an air tight box in the fridge as I make large amounts. Every day take the amount you need, keep it out for 10 mins and it will come to room temperature.

Notes
1. You can use any nuts of choice. Walnuts, cashews, almonds, peanuts.
2. You can add seeds too.
3. Make sure you use the soft variety of dates.
