How to make raita for biriyani / Pachadi Recipe / Mixed Vegetable Raita

Raita is a kind of salad in thick yogurt. It is more commonly eaten with briyani and other rice varieties but can also be had with paratha or rotis. I cannot imagine my briyani without a good raita!

We made this raita for about 5 people, you can change the quantities of each ingredients as per your requirements.
There is no specific measure for this recipe. You can add how much ever you want of the given vegetables. Use thick curd for best tasting raitas.

Preparation time 15mins | Serves 5-6

  • Curd - 3 cups
  • Onion - 3 chopped
  • Carrot - 1/2 cup grated
  • Coriander leaves - 1 handful
  • Cucumber - 1 whole
  • Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - to taste

Other Raita Recipes

1. Chop the onions, grate the carrot. Peel the cucumber and chop them up.
2. Add all the cut vegetables along with coriander leaves, cumin powder and salt.
3. Whisk the curd and add it and mix well.

1. You can add any vegetables you want. Tomatoes, capsicum or even boiled potatoes can be added.
2. If the curd is too thick, you can add 1/4 cup milk to dilute it.
3. If the curd raita becomes sour after sometime, add little more milk.

Until next time,
