I love kurma because of it's flavor and it's so versatile. You can have it with idli, dosa, roti, or even any variety rice. I have posted a few kurma recipes already and my list of favorites continues to grow! This is another kurma recipe that I tried and we absolutely loved it! This is so flavorful and delicious!
BABY POTATO KURMA
Preparation time 15 mins | Cooking time 20 mins | Serves 2 or 3

Ingredients

To Temper
Method
1. Wash the potatoes and pressure cook them with peas. Add adequate water and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
2. Grind all the ingredients mentioned under 'paste 1' and 'paste 2' separately.
3. In a pan, add oil. once the oil heats up, add the cinnamon, clove and bay leaf.
4. Wait for a minute and add the chopped onion, curry leaves and green chilli.
5. Saute until the onion turn translucent. Now add the ground paste 1 and mix well. Allow to cook in medium flame.
6. Add the turmeric powder, garam masala and cumin powder and cook for a couple of minutes.
7. Now add the ground paste 2. Mix well. Add 1/2 cup of water and allow to cook for few minutes.
8. Add the cooked baby potatoes and peas. Cook for a few minutes until it's all well mixed and cooked.
9. Add the chopped coriander leaves and switch off.
Notes
1. Instead of grinding the garlic and ginger, you can add a tbsp of ginger garlic paste.
2. You can add any other vegetables too.

- Baby potatos - 20
- Green Peas - 3/4 cup
- Onion - 1 medium
- Curry leaves - few
- Green Chilli - 2 (I did not add)
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
- Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp, chopped
- Salt - to taste
Paste 1
- Shallots (small onion) - 10
- Tomato - 1 medium
- Red chilli - 3 or 4
- Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
- Ginger - small piece
- Garlic - 5 pearls
Paste 2
- Pottu kadalai (roasted gram) - 1 tbsp
- Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
- Water - 2 tbsp

- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Cinnamon - 1 stick
- Clove - 4
- Bay leaf - 1
