Cabbage Egg Poriyal

Cabbage Egg Poriyal is a tasty and quick stir fry that you can make as a side dish for rice. Cabbage is an excellent source of Vitamin K and Vitamin C and it is also low in calories. Pairing it with eggs makes it healthy and tasty.

Cabbage Egg Poriyal

Preparation time 10 mins | Cooking time 15 mins | Serves 2

  • Cabbage - 2 cups
  • Eggs - 2
  • Onion - 1
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilli - 2
  • Salt - to taste
To Temper
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp 
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Hing - a pinch
Cabbage Egg Poriyal

1. Chop the cabbage and onion and set aside.
2. In a kadai, heat oil. Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, curry leaves and hing.

3. When the mustard splutters, add the chopped onions, chopped green chillies and little salt. Cook till the onions turn translucent.
4. Add the turmeric powder and cumin powder and mix well. Cook for 3 minutes.

5. Add the chopped cabbage and mix well. Sprinkle some water and cook till the cabbage is done.
6. Push the cabbage to one end and break open the eggs. Add little salt and pepper powder and scramble well.

7. Mix the cabbage and eggs together. Check for salt and switch off.

Cabbage Egg Poriyal

1. You can scramble the eggs separately and add it in.
