Cabbage peas poriyal is a tasty side dish for rice along with sambar, rasam or kuzhambu. It makes a perfect and complete South Indian meal. Cabbage is an excellent low calorie vegetable and paired with peas it tastes really good!
CABBAGE PEAS PORIYAL
Preparation time 10 mins | Cooking time 10 mins | Serves 2
Ingredients

2. When the mustard seeds splutter, add the chopped onions and chopped green chillies.
3. Saute until the onions are translucent.
4. Add the chopped cabbage and the peas. Add little water (about a 1/4 cup) and salt and mix well.
5. Close the cooker and pressure cook for 1-2 whistles.
6. Once done, open the cooker, if there is remnant water, saute for a few minutes until all the water is gone.
And that's it, ready to serve cabbage peas stir fry.
Notes
1. You can very well make this in an open pan but I find that the peas cook better in a pressure cooker.
2. Just make sure you don't add too much water while pressure cooking as that will make the cabbage soggy.
3. You can open the cooker and add some grated coconut too.

- Peas - 1/2 cup (I used fresh peas)
- Onion - 1, chopped

- Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Urad dal - 1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves - 1 sprig
