முள்ளங்கி பொரியல் | Mullangi Poriyal | Radish Stirfry | Radish Poriyal | Mooli Sabji - In this post, we will see how to make radish poriyal. This stirfry serves as a tasty side dish for rice.


Ingredients
  • Radish - 3
  • Onion - 1
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/4 tsp
  • Perungayam - 1/8 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • Green chillies - 6 to 8

Method
1. Wash and peel the radish. Cut into cubes.
2. In a kadai, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, urad dal, curry leaves and green chillies.
3. I have add a lot of slit green chillies as this is the only spice I'm going to be adding to this stir fry.
4. Then add onion and salt. Saute till the onions are translucent.
5. Then add the chopped radish and mix with the onions.
6. Add 1/4 cup water and cook the radish for 5-6 mins.
7. After 5 mins when theradish is half cooked, open and add coriander powder, cumin powder. You can add red chilli powder too but I have added lots of green chillies so I did not add red chilli powder.
8. Cover and cook for another 5 mins.

Tasty radish stir fry is ready.

Notes
1. Instead of cutting the radish into cubes, you can grate the radish too.
2. You can add some grated coconut too.
