Crispy Baked Idli with Left over idli's (fried idli style)

I'm sure every family has left over idlis, most of the days. Instead of re heating those idlis, it is best to make some snack out of it and finish it off. I first had fried idlis in my in laws house. It tasted so crispy and yum, I had so much. But then I never made it at home since it required frying the idlis in so much of oil and I'm not a fan of eating too much fried stuff.

So when my husband suggested why not bake it, I was curious to try it out and we were not disappointed! It turned out just as crispy and yum as the fried ones. This is much better since I used only a tsp of oil here.
Do try it out, it's a wonderful snack!

Method
1. Chop the idlis into wedges or squares. Add a tsp of oil and lightly coat the idlis.

2. Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees C. Arrange the idlis on a baking tray.
3. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Turn over the idlis to the other side and bake again for another 10-12 minutes.

4. It should be crispy when done. Otherwise keep it for little longer.
5. Coat with idli podi and enjoy!

Notes
1. Alternately you can fry the idlis in hot oil too.
2. Instead of idli podi you can use any masala of your choice too.
3. You can also coat the idlis with idli podi/masala and then place it in the oven.
4. You can increase the temperature to 200 and time to 15 minutes, gets sone quickly. But keep a watch so that it doesn't get burnt.

Until next time,
