Nellikai Juice | Amla Juice

Do I need to stress the benefits of amla! This fruit is rich in Vitamin C and so good for immunity. It's also good for skin and hair. There are tons of other health benefits that you can look up in the internet but my mum makes this juice mostly for the purpose of immunity.
This is the way we make it at our home and you can make necessary changes to suit your taste.

Nellikai Juice

Method
1. Wash the nellikai well and cut them up into small pieces. Remove the seeds and chop them.

2. Take the chopped pieces in a blender. Add the ginger garlic paste and salt.
3. Add water and blend till it's fine and smooth.

4. Transfer this pulp to a strainer and strain the juice well. Take the pulp and squeeze out all the remaining juice.

5.  Add it back to the blender, add very little water and blend again. Remove all the juice out.
6. Transfer the juice to plastic or glass bottles and store in the refrigerator.

To ServeYou can have 50 ml everyday.  Since we have already added water, you need not dilute with water while drinking the juice. If you find it difficult to drink, then you can add some water. My husband and my dad has it without diluting with more water.

Nellikai Juice

Notes
1. The juice needs to be refrigerated.
2. Use only plastic or glass bottles to store the juice. Do not use metal.
3. Using ginger garlic paste is optional. You can also use ginger alone.
4. You can also make this juice without adding any water and have it the same. That is also good but it will be very concentrated.
5. The remaining 'chakka' or dry pulp, you can use as a hair pack along with curd and curry leaves paste.

Until next time,
