Mor Kuzhambu | Pumpkin Mor Kuzhambu | Pumpkin Mor Curry | மோர் குழம்பு

மோர் குழம்பு | Mor Kuzhambu | Pumpkin Mor Kuzhambu - In this post, we will see how to make a tasty poosanikai mor kuzhambu.


Ingredients
  • Poosanikai - 2 cups
  • Coconut pieces - 1 cup
  • Toor dal - 1 tbsp
  • Small onion - 4
  • Ginger - small piece
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Green chillies - 3
  • Curd - 1.5 cups
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Water - as needed
  • Salt - to taste
  • Coriander leaves
  • Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • Red chilli - 2

Method
1. Wash and cut the white pumpkin into smaller pieces.
2. Heat oil in kadai, add mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves, green chillies.
3. Add the pumpkin into the kadai and mix well.
4. Add 1/2 cup water, cover and cook the pumpkin for 5-7 mins.
5. In the meantime, take the coconut pieces in a mixee jar, along with it add cumin seeds, ginger, shallots, soaked toor dal and green chillies.
6. Add water and grind to a smooth paste and transfer into a bowl.
7. Take 1.5 cups of curd and whisk well. Add the curd into the coconut mixture and mix well.
8. Add salt and turmeric powder and mix well. Add 1/2 cup extra water.
9. By now the pumpkin will be well cooked. Add the coconut + curd mixture into the pan and mix well.
10. Cook the mor kuzhambu in medium flame for 5 mins, don't over cook it.
11. Finally add chopped coriander leaves and switch off.

Notes
1. Instead of pumpkin you can use any other water based vegetables.
2. Don't let the mor kuzhambu to boil, it will split.
