South Indian Style Chicken Soup | Chicken Rasam Recipe - In this recipe, we will see how to make a tasty, easy, heart warming chicken soup. This winter, if you have a cold or sore throat, have this awesome flavorful chicken soup, you will feel better soon.


Ingredients 
  • Chicken - 500 gms 
  • Onion - 1 
  • Ginger garlic - 2 tbsp 
  • Tomato - 2 
  • Green chilli - 1 
  • Coriander powder - 2 tsp 
  • Cumin powder - 1 tsp 
  • Pepper powder - 1 tsp 
  • Water - 2.5 to 3 cups 
  • Salt - to taste 
  • Coriander leaves - a handful 
  • Oil - 2 tbsp 
  • Cinnamon - 1 
  • Cloves - 2 
  • Bay leaf - 2

Method
1. Add about 6 to 7 garlic and a 1 inch piece ginger in a mortar and crush it well.
2. In a pressure cooker, heat oil and add the cinnamon, clove and bay leaf. 
3. Then add 1 large chopped onion and saute till it's golden brown.
4. Add 1 green chilli and some salt. 
5. Then add the crushed ginger and garlic and saute till the raw smell of ginger and garlic leaves.
6. Add the chopped tomatoes and mix it in.
7. After 2 mins, you can start adding the masala. The tomatoes need not be fully cooked.
8. Add the coriander powder, cumin powder, pepper powder and mix in.
9. Then add the washed and cleaned chicken pieces. Mix with the masala and let the chicken cook for 2 mins. 
10. Then add the water and adjust salt.
11. Close the cooker and pressure cook for 3 whistles. 
12. After the pressure settles down, open the cooker and add chopped coriander leaves.
13. Before serving, you can add more fresh pepper powder if needed.

Notes
1. Instead of adding the masala, you can crush the masala fresh and add it in.
2. Instead of the large onion, you can use shallots as well.
