Onion Coconut Chutney Recipe | Easy Chutney Recipes

This is another chutney for idli or dosa. This is again my sister in law's recipe and it tasted really yum. I have already posted another coconut chutney recipe but this is different from that. 

This is a simple no fuss chutney, gets done quickly.

Preparation time 10 mins | Serves 2-3

  • Coconut - 1 cup (chopped)
  • Onion - 1 medium
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Green chillies - 1
  • Ginger - a small piece
  • Salt - to taste
To Temper
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/ 4 tsp
  • Curry leaves - few

Here are some other chutney recipes

1. In a kadai, add a tsp oil. Chop the onions and saute them until translucent. Set aside to cool.

2. Chop the coconut into small pieces and take it in a blender along with green chillies, ginger, onions and salt. Blend till smooth.
3. In a small tadka pan, add oil, mustard seeds and urad dal. Add the curry leaves once the mustard splutters.

4. Add this to the chutney and mix.

1. Add more green chillies for more spice.
2. You can either chop the coconut or grate and use.
