Spicy Tomato Garlic Chutney Recipe | Easy Chutney Recipes

This is another easy chutney recipe without onions. It tastes awesome and goes well with idli and dosai. I made this and another easy onion tomato chutney for nieces and sister in law who visited us recently and they enjoyed it immensely!

Ingredients
  • Tomato - 3 medium
  • Garlic - 4 to 5
  • Red chilli - 2
  • Tamarind - a small piece
  • Salt - to taste
To Temper
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/4 tsp
  • Hing - a tiny pinch

Here are some other chutney recipes

Method
1. Chop tomatoes and put it in a blender along with red chillies, garlic and tamarind. Blend to a smooth paste without adding water.

2. In a kadai, add oil. Once the oil heats up add mustard seeds and urad dal.
3. When the mustard seeds splutter, add the ground paste and some salt and hing.

4. Cook in medium flame until it becomes slightly thickened.
5. Switch off and serve.

Notes
1. You can more red chillies, I added only 2 since my nieces are not fond of very spicy food.
2. Do add curry leaves while tempering. I forgot to add!!

Until next time,
