Beef Curry

As I mentioned in the Beef biryani recipe, I am not a beef eater. I have never had beef in my life until the day in my anni's house! She was cooking beef for us and I could not refuse!! She also packed some tender boneless beef pieces for me and I made a beef biryani and this beef curry with it. This curry is a simple and easy recipe that is filled with flavor! You can enjoy this curry as a side dish to roti or even pulao.

Beef Curry

I have been told that beef needs to be cooked very well so I pressure cooked for about 30 minutes in medium flame.

1. Wash the beef pieces well, add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, mix well and set aside.

2. In a pressure cooker, heat the oil and the cinnamon, star anise and bay leaf.
3. Add the sliced onions, some salt and green chillies and saute until the onions turn translucent.

4. Add the ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell leaves.
5. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook for about 5 minutes until the tomatoes are cooked.
6. Add the mint leaves and mix well.

7. Add all the masala powder and mix again. Add little water to avoid burning. Cook for 3 minutes. Add salt to taste.
8. Add the beef pieces and mix well with the masala.

9. Add 1 cup of water and mix in. Cook in medium flame for 30 minutes - about 15-20 whistles.

10. When the pressure settles, open the cooker and add the coriander leaves.
11. Switch on the gas again and cook the gravy till it reached your desired consistency.

12. Add lemon juice and mix in, cook for 2 minutes and switch off.
