Murungai Keerai Soup

Drumstick leaves are a natural superfood! It is rich in iron, vitamins, minerals and anti oxidants. It fights inflammation, protects cardiovascular system, supports brain heath. It is very good to eat murungai keerai regularly. I normally make a poriyal with it and I also make this soup quite often.
Normally the drumstick leaves can taste slightly bitter, but the addition of moong dal makes this soup very tasty and palatable for kids.

Mushroom Drumstick Curry

We have a drumstick tree in our garden and we get lots and lots of drumsticks from it, that my mum shares it with all our neighbors all the time. One time, one of our neighbors, a grandmother, gave me this recipe of mushrooms and drumsticks. I love mushrooms so I was immediately interested and willing to try it out. This turned out great and my husband and me simply loved it! This grandmother tells me she also makes drumstick with mutton....waiting to try that out some other day!

Murungakkai Masala | Drumstick Curry

Drumstick is one of my favorite veggie. Growing up, I was a fussy eater, did not like eating vegetables but then these drumsticks were a favorite even at that time! My mom made a lot of drumstick recipes and potato recipes for my school. It's such a wonder that I turned out to be such a food lover!

I have posted a murunga keerai poriyal recipe earlier and a murungakkai kara kuzhambu recipe too which I love so much! This drumstick curry is a simple fuss free side dish that goes very well with rice.

Murungai Keerai Poriyal / Drumstick leaves Stir Fry

Drumstick leaves are so rich in iron and calcium that it is very healthy to have it often. It also tastes good too. This is my mum's favorite and since we have a drumstick tree in our house, this is made very often. Removing the leaves from the stalk is quite a tiresome job but to make it easy, roll the drumstick leaves in a newspaper and leave it in the fridge overnight. You will find that the leaves shed by themselves and beyond that it is easy to clean.

Murungakakai Kara Kuzhambu / Drumstick Curry Recipe

I love drumstick curry, it is my favourite among all the kuzhambu variety. My mum's recipe is absolutely delicious! For some reason I love to eat this with beans poriyal. So we often have murungakai kara kuzhambu with beans poriyal!

There are of course various ways to prepare this curry. Some do not use tomatoes but we use tomatoes to make this gravy. On a leisurely day, we use about 15 shallots to make this. But on a working day, this is made with big onions.
