DDL Ice Cream

Sometime back I made some DDL at home and with one can of DDL I made these delicious DDL brownies and with the other can I made this awesome DDL Ice Cream. The addition of DDL makes this ice cream finger licking good!
So many people can vouch for this ice cream! I made this for a potluck with friends and I served this ice cream along with this 3 ingredient nutella brownies and these disappeared in no time! All the kids came flocking around to have another serving of this ice cream!!

My DDL was very thick so I added it to a saucepan to thin it out a bit. If your DDL is of a slightly thin consistency, you can add it directly to the ice cream.

DDL Ice Cream

Preparation time 10 mins | Setting time 8 hours | Makes 1L

  • Heavy whipping cream - 250 ml (I used tropolite non dairy cream)
  • Amul fresh cream - 250 ml
  • DDL - 1 cup
  • Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
  • Icing sugar - 1 tbsp
DDL Ice Cream

Some other ice cream recipes

1. To thin out the DDL - Take the 1 cup of DDl in a saucepan and add about 3 tbsp of milk.

2. Keep this over a water bath (double boiler) and heat the DDL. Keep stirring the DDL until it thins out completely.

3. Let it cool and then use in the recipe.

4. Add the vanilla to the heavy whipping cream and beat until it forms soft peaks.

5. Add the icing sugar and beat again.
6. Add the fresh cream and beat again for 2 minutes.

7. Add the DDL and beat well until it's well mixed.
8. Pour into a freezer safe box and cling wrap it. Let it set in the freezer for 8 hours.

9. And then enjoy!!

DDL Ice Cream

1. If using dairy cream alone, then increase the amount of sugar.
2. If you don't want to thin out the DDL, then add in small amounts and whip until it's well mixed.
3. You can add some chocolate chips or toasted nuts too.
4. Thaw the heavy cream before whipping but make sure the cream is chilled. To know more about how to whip cream, check out this post on how to whip cream to stiff peaks.
5. The sweetness was just right for us, if you want your ice cream to be more sweet then add 1 more tbsp of icing sugar.

Until next time,

  5. hey! is there another ingredient i can sub with in place of amul fresh cream? i live in the US and i am not sure what the equivalent of amul fresh cream is. appreciate your help thanks!

    1. If you live in the US, simply use 2 cups of heavy cream and the DDL. You might have to add some sugar since the heavy cream in unsweetened. Add sugar as per your taste and preference.
